When a death occurs, there is a short period of time for the family to make many important decisions. Pre-Planning allows you to carefully consider your options and wishes in advance, in a relaxed manner. You can leave detailed instructions to help eliminate some of the difficult tasks for your loved ones. Pre-planning gives you time to make sound decisions.
You may not realize it, but you probably have already done some pre-planning. If you have life insurance, purchased cemetery plots, made out a will, purchased a monument, or have spoken casually about what you would want done if something unexpected happened, you have already done pre-planning.

Planning a funeral in advance of need is a thoughtful decision for you and your family. This is why Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home offers preplanning programs to suit your personal, religious, financial, and family needs. We will assist you in prearranging a traditional funeral or non-traditional funeral. This may include discussing your wishes with your loved ones, explaining the procedures for handling your affairs, deciding on the funeral you want and selecting funeral items such as a casket, vault, memorial cards, and flowers; this can be in the funeral home or in the privacy of your own home.
Types of Pre-Planning
Funded: Selection of funeral goods and services, and recording of personal information. The charges for these services are locked-in at today's costs, guaranteed from inflation, regardless of when the services are provided. The funded program offers so many protections from financial loss. If your personal circumstances change due to ill health, bankruptcy, legal activity, need nursing home care, go on Medicare/Medicaid or any other government program, your pre-arrangement plan is protected.
Options for Pre-funding: Some people like to pay, or are able to pay, in one lump sum. However, many people feel that making payments over time are best for their own individual situations. Such payment plans allow monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annual payments. A convenient and affordable method of prepayment.
Non-funded: Selection of funeral goods and services, recording personal information that might otherwise remain unknown and filing of your services wishes are made. Selection of goods and services do not need to be made at this time, but can be made at a later time if you wish. If goods and services are selected, that information will be on record so that your family will not have to guess or wonder what would have been preferred.
